HSAC COMMITTEE REPORTS
Chairman's Report - Mark Fontenot
On the Wednesday prior to the General Meeting, the HSAC Working Group, whose
participants included Regular and Associate Members, would gather to discuss
topics listed on the Risk Reduction Action Plan. Items were discussed, an action
plan suggested; however, there was slow follow-up and little progress on many
of the topics. The large size of the group did not lend itself to conclusive
action on any one of the safety items.
The Chairman stated that the HSAC Working Group needs to, "refocus on the HSAC founding principle of 'Safety through Cooperation.' " HSAC should follow the lead of the International Helicopter Safety Team (IHST) and form smaller committees - work groups - to address topics and develop safety recommendations.
At the HSAC Working Group Meeting on May 14, 2008, it was agreed to subdivide the group into four Work Groups with each having a group chairman reporting to the HSAC Chairman.
